Furniture Storage

Furniture Storage

Author: Kamyar Shah

Furniture storage is a common request for many self storage companies and businesses. Why would someone need furniture storage? The reasons that you would need furniture storage are many and varied. When you are looking for storage for furniture you should first find a reputable self storage facility. The first reason that many people choose their self storage company is location. There might be a cheaper self storage place across town but convenience always rules out, even price.

Once you have established where you would like to have furniture storage, you will need to decide what size storage unit that will best suit your furniture needs. If you have no idea what size unit you will need, make a mental list or jot down all the pieces of furniture that you will be storing in your self storage unit. Then contact your self storage manager and ask their advice on what size unit they think you will need. Most all self storage companies have a storage guide to help them decide what size self storage unit they should recommend to the customer. The larger the unit size the more it costs, with the exception of any specials or deals a company might be running. Make sure that the height of the unit is taken in consideration when choosing a self storage unit size to store your furniture. The taller the unit means that you will be able to stack items and take advantage of the height rather that the floor dimensions only. The average small self storage unit usually runs about 5x5 and would not be good for storing any large pieces or quantity of furniture. The 5x10 unit could hold some small pieces while the 5x15 and up are better sized for storing your furniture.

Now the next question to ask your self storage facility manager is if you will need climate controlled storage for your furniture. If the self storage business you have chosen has both regular self storage and climate controlled self storage then they will be able to guide you in your decision. Sometimes self storage facilities that do not have climate control self storage will often tell people that they do not need it to store their furniture. They tell people this so that you will rent with them, so do some research and figure out if you will need climate controlled storage. Most of the time people need climate controlled storage for furniture is for antique pieces and leather furniture. The reason these two furniture items require climate controlled self storage is because of the range of temperature and humidity levels. Climate controlled furniture storage helps maintain a constant temperature year round with little or no humidity.

Now you are ready to rent furniture storage. Here are some common reasons why people call and ask for furniture storage.

1.Have extra pieces that you cannot part with but do not have room for at your home

2.Inherited furniture from a loved one Saving furniture for a college grad or newlyweds

3.Remodeling and need space to work Water or smoke damaged furniture waiting to be cleaned

4.Extra office furniture that needs to be kept off site from your business

5.New baby or kids off to college

6.Impending storm, flood or fire and need to evacuate 7.New home building goes over schedule and your deliveries are waiting

8.Your business rents chairs, tables or other pieces of furniture

9.Cleaning out your garage of collected furniture 10.You sell furniture on a popular Internet auction site

11.Getting ready for a yard, garage or estate sale 12.De-cluttering your home for an upcoming home sale

13.Staging your home with newer or updated pieces that fit the space better

14.Military or job transfer and need to place items away

15.Grown child or older parent needs to move back to your home

16.Eviction or foreclosure Tenant eviction

17.You are a pack rat

18.You found a furniture sale and could not pass up the deal

Whatever you reason for needing furniture self storage is, you should be able to find a local self storage business to help accommodate your storage needs. Here are some additional tips when storing furniture in a self storage unit; use old sheets and/or blankets to cover and protect furniture against scratches, stack pieces flat side to flat side to reduce scratching, take apart tables and other pieces that can be broken down to save on space, turn your couch on its end to save on floor space, spend the money on furniture cover and mattress covers to protect from dust and take out self storage insurance if available. You never know when you might need the coverage.

If you are looking to find furniture storage around your home you might want to reorganize your current floor plan to allow for those pieces you are trying to store. In the home office, try and use two small filing cabinets on either end of an old door or large square piece of wood, making your own desk. Utilize a small odd shaped dresser for an end table or media table. Many ottomans and benches now come with storage underneath the hinges; a great place for blankets, toys, magazines or other small items. Use an old table in the garage or craft room to have more counter and work space. Move older pieces to the basement and create a family room, play room or media room out of odds and ends. Have a large walk in closet? Put a tall dresser in there to help with items of clothing that can be put in drawers instead of hanging them up.

If your business is selling furniture then you probably store your furniture in some type of warehouse setting. The new furniture is wrapped to prevent dust and dirt from getting on the outside and to keep any unwanted critters out also. If there is any type of hardware, then those items are wrapped separately to avoid scratching and damaging the piece. Warehouses of furniture will utilize racks or stacks to store furniture and utilize the height of the warehouse. Furniture storage is a necessity for large furniture companies that carry a large inventory. Some pieces of furniture are unassembled and are boxed, saving the furniture company room in storage of bulky pieces.

So let us go over what we have learned. You probably already know the reason why you need furniture storage, now get it. Look for a convenient self storage business to store your furniture. Ask the self storage manager to assist with choosing a size to best fit your furniture needs. Ask the self storage manager if you will need climate controlled storage or regular storage for your furniture. Pack the self storage unit correctly to take advantage of the space. Safely pack your furniture in the self storage area so that items are secure and covered with blankets or sheets. Use mattress and couch covers and get the insurance if offered in your state. If you need to find furniture storage in your own home, look and see what if any pieces of furniture can be moved around or put into another room. There are many popular TV show about remodeling and decluttering to help you with ideas. Sometimes it takes a fresh eye to see your furniture in another place in your home, ask for help if needed.

Affordable furniture self storage is out there and these self storage businesses would love to have you as a renter. Most furniture self storage businesses will rent to you on a month to month basis so even if you only need furniture storage for a short time you will find a business that will work with you. If you know you are going to need furniture storage for a long or extended period of time, some self storage businesses will offer discounts for pre paying the months you will be there. Plus it never hurts to ask if the self storage facility you are calling offers any military, senior or student discounts to renters. Furniture storage can save you space in your home or office and should be a serious consideration if you cannot get rid of the pieces some other way. Call around, get the best price and make sure the place you want to store your furniture has good security. You will sleep better at night know that your treasured pieces of furniture are safe and secure and out of your home.

Your ad campaign...how-to tip!

Advertising firms studied the market. Find most people respond to ads based on color and type size. That would result in a 'sell or no sell.'
This matters when selling anything be that a boat or telling a story and getting your point across.

* positive selling when the ad copy is either Blue on Gold(yellow) or Gold (yellow) on Blue ,this would be used for bill boards and store front signage.

* The use of red makes people think negatively and associate with loosing. In most cases such as loosing money. That is where the expression "I'm in the red" or "I'm in debt" or "I.O.U." comes from.
* Accountants while doing the "books" want to reach the famous "bottom line" "in the black".
* This is why the Friday after Thanksgiving is know as "Black Friday" Retailers historically make the most sells on that day bringing them "out of the red" and making a profit.

* Multi color is also used when selling children's things like kids books or toys. Geared toward an immature audience. Often hard to follow this method. Just as blue on white over used is hard on the eyes. For example it is used most often on the web as a link or title. Good rule to follow remember manual type writers only had red and black ink.

* And, over kill of "CAPS" is a NEGATIVE, especially when directed to mature audience. Black bold under lined text used on the bottom line is the selling point. Where one hopes to close the deal.
* Know your market be they mature adults or more mature teens. Or if you are directing your efforts to capture the attention of the immature age group of children. This will dictate the style of text and contents providing results your ad campaign geared was towards.

Sir, if it pleases your majesty bid me the time to explain the common folk. resounds ....court jester

What on earth do you say, You claim these children are in Heaven yet world wide? They cry out for this law to be silenced yet again. This is so confusing Jester You will be put away unless you clarify THIS NOW! Proclaims ....."king" Obama

Sir,The ink of your well had not dried to the parchment when the aborted souls cried for your mercy. And those of whom are yet to be,fear for the fate that is! For they fear not for their sakes but yours? says ....court jester

Tis difficult to proclaim without sounding .......well without sounding......Oh...... judgemental!
They fear the fate of your accountability.
says ....court jester.

Not just in this. They have supported your travels seeking a new way forward.... to find themselves reverting to old ways by the past kingdoms. The here say of promises not kept.....says court Jester

The sacrifice to remake the failing kingdom is not one of their selected paths. Their only hope is prayer.... says court jester

In keeping with the characteristics found in Mid Century furniture. The main lines, clean curves, and style are found in these modern works of art.

Modern furniture with it's roots in Mid Century. The designer 1932 Georg Stokke from the Norwegian west coast. There is an important element that goes into the production of every piece produced. The way the human body moves and relation to how the furniture is designed. Varier says they have the healthiest furniture, or "as we like to call it – "intelligent sitting."

Blame WHO?

"Media coverage messed up" Or did they? See the story Repeats of ‘We Are One’ Event Will Include Bishop, HBO Says

But is media to be blamed? I quote"It was the presidential inaugural committee".But was it..."not HBO, who took responsibility for the perceived slight on Monday,..."

Has any one given consideration to divine plan to one who is called GOD?
Maybe He allowed the "slip up" to be a eye opening wake up call for leaving HIM out?

It amazes me that Obama followers (voters) speak with lack of "respect" to the one who has not even taken the oath yet?
If Obama was for the Mama, the Papa then, why not now?
Whose "all one" teaching is the right one anyhow?
Did you ask my opinion?
You voted in deception and now you say these things. But wasn't he the one who said "yes I can",sorry that was a slip"yes we can"???

Just what is "openness", it carries a diverse range of users/producers/contributors! Do we 'all' subscribe to those the same way?

Let me openly expressed here "I am a sinner". But rather than organizing a group of like minded towards the advancement of "my sin". I turned to the One who can truly tolerate my sin...that is also open for others, too.

As for Bishop V. Gene Robinson’s invocation on Sunday. His prayer left out God *(rather the Bishop mentions Him as "God of our many understandings") and only ended with "Amen," not with in "Christ Jesus name Amen".
Is this respect to Christians? Fear GOD the higher Authority even Bishops answer to.

Because of my "openness" I suppose my comment will be omitted.Thank-you for any consideration.

So "submissive" they are?

The role of the "woman" in our society or interacting within an ethnically diverse society is the problem. Just as "submissiveness"is taken out of context. Let me explain your analogy of the role played in films is not out of order. When considering the method by which women are "chosen"and in this text via Hollywood and the film industry. What would you expect in a industry that prides itself with fame and the expense of the viewers. For myself the election to use my free time more wisely and to chose not to infiltrate my mind and thereby my life with cheap entertainment. The industry is geared towards the perversion of the roles not only of women but men and children. The context takes away the values of what a family is because sex sells. There is no concern for the impact on society but rather the numbers at the box office.
One needs to look at the real roles of men women and children from the view of what they were intended to be by our creator.
Husbands love your wives even as Christ loved the church. This is a love for ones wife which would indicate man married to woman. A concept that today's society wants to throw out the window as well.
Then wives are to be submissive to their husbands. The submissiveness is towards her husband and not towards another outside of her relationship with her husband. Wow,what an idea whose time has come "loyalty" and commitment towards each other.
The role of the child is "honor" your father and your mother that it my be well with thee and you shall live long.
The movie industry has taken all of these roles and flipped them over and changed them to be opposite of the standard. Where children boss parents around and wives run round and men chase men.
That is where our society is and is heading deeper into this trend as time moves on.
Your supposed industrialized "Rosie the Riveter" also would be one who is from a foreign country as industry itself is moved from the American way of life. It is not an industrialized country any more. We are service oriented instead. Not many of today's workers have even got "dirty finger nails". Never broke sweat doing a job more than sitting answering a phone in an office.
One would not need to see the obvious from the view of being chauvinistic? But obvious if one is viewing real life by the examples Hollywood gives us. Then one has taken a step down the wrong road and will view real life as sex money greed and who care what is right.

Above is my remark above given as a comment on Thomas Reggi's article
Nurses, Teachers, Secretaries Oh MY!
Thomas Reggi proponent of Existentialism and any directive towards standards by God The Creator or even to the following of a set of standards could prove to be problematic.

With that being said here is more information about culture shifting.

"Growing Pains"

eBay Auction Seller Breaks Sales Record Off-eBay
3rd comment is me. I will add Auctionbytes reply if any here.

Mon Jan 19 01:10:23 2009
Thanks for more supportive feedback. Please understand that I never said that the success of Bruce Hershenson was not notable nor unworthy of praise? What I was asking was for tips for the little guy from the big guy. Bruce Hershenson is a go getter and I commend that. I am ever greatful to see community support. The newsletters from Auctionbyte.com have been helpful for the small guy like me. In gaining the inside scoop and connecting with community supporting folks like Henrietta,Patricia,Allen K. and I'm sure others who will offer tips and advice. It will also be great to hear any support from Auctionbytes.com on this subject.

There are so many stories about the success of the big guys? Sure some did just jump on the band wagon after inheriting from a great uncle or the likes there of. Yes, some have started out with nothing and made a success of themselves. That was last year or the year before. We face a new challenged time in our lives. One that provides us with the opportunity to empower new ideas that work for the betterment of ones business. One that will bring the little guy to a brighter tomorrow providing he or she makes prudent and timely decisions. What I hope to find is the trail that no one has gone down before. The one that leads to that peaceful waterfall in a tropical setting. But then I wake up to the realities and the world we are living in.Aware of the surroundings but not an proponent of doom. Thinking there is a chance yet?

Washingtonpost.com June 30Th 2005 Leslie Walker in her article "EBay Sellers Fell Into Careers That Fill Their Lives" Talks about the growing pains associated with selling on eBay. I would say that these are true also for other venues as well? "All of which suggests a get-rich-slow dream on eBay. It may be more about taking control of lifestyles than raking in moolah".

For me it's about making ends meet, about being able to control my own work environment. But there is a level of profit yet to be obtained. It goes without saying this level is a necessary component to reaching the other objectives.

What other advice can you give the small guy like myself. Currently sell on eBay and now switching to Ioffer. Plus using social media in hopes to drum up sells. Very limited funds do not allow me to open a website just yet. However, I know that should be my goal. Took on a consignment of 400 plus pieces Department 56 collectibles. What platform/s could you recommend. One or more that would be best to liquidate this collection and bring the most profits. Auctionbytes newsletter Jan 18Th article about Babylon Mall had me checking into using this venue. But they are for handmade items? This is at times very daunting for those who want to offer goods but there are so many options most are cost prohibitive. Leaving the little guy in a cloud of dust. It would be nice to know there is some sort of hope for small sellers, too?

"Intrigued wealth gains interest"

In this declining market the concerns of money brings every one together. Use to be a time when talking about the weather was the topic of conversation. Or,who made the play offs.
When dealing with every day business one goal is to improve the customer conversion rate. Some of the simple techniques are easiest to apply.

Wealth is a gain of what you deem valuable. Wealth is not always the amount of money growing interest in a bank account 401k or CD? While these things are great for purchasing power. Establishing relationships also brings "wealth" perhaps with more satisfying results. Because having friends to help bring you through any set back gives peace of mind.

The Bible verse
Hosea 11:4 I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love;I lifted the yoke from their neck and bent down to feed them.

GOD created mankind to work together to build a community of kindness towards one another. That is something that is being accomplished in the blogging world. Bringing people together with like interest building a niche. Yet we have different backgrounds, views and ideas. We learn better ways to communicate our thoughts and goals. Especially in the area we are interested in. In ROI of time and energy devoted to growth.

This has been applied over and over with the brick and mortar industry. Where in the business that I find myself selling antiques. Other dealers who have established reputable business relationships. Have been those who did not think that sharing information would jeopardize their own business but in fact in grew their business.
A great example is a dealer who sales Mid Century furniture. Starting in the business over 6 years ago. He has grown strong in sells not of the typical antiques that one finds in an Antique Mall. He shared with me the way he has survived the economic down swing. By developing his niche market of Mid Century furniture of Danish and retro design. Floor lay out of his booth at the antique mall that one learns over time. Open generously sharing without ever thinking he was undermining his own sells. Yet, all the while bringing a new dealer to better understand the market.

Now while shopping for the smaller and more manageable inventory to promote on-line. I often find more than my budget will allow. Yet the furniture would be valuable to my dealer friend. That is when I would tell him about something I saw or where he could obtain a quality Charles Eames chair or sofa.
While the ability for me to make the larger purchase was not an option, it was for him. The result was growth for both.

An Obituary printed in the London Times........ Interesting and sadly TRUE

.. ah ah, what was it now... humm..humm, oh oh
I remember now?
The "common cents" used to be worth a penny and added up to a buck if you saved it. Bought a honey bun ,soda, bubble gum,and you saved the rest for later.

I guess if enough read this "common sense" blog, some one
might get the idea. Would be great to see one for the
common sense of using God's Word as a road map for life issues? edited to fit blog format.

An Obituary printed in the London Times........ Interesting and sadly rather true.

'Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend,Common Sense,
who has been with us for many years.
No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird gets the worm;
Life isn't always fair; and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies
(don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies
(adults, not children,are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.

Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate;
teens suspended from school for using mouth wash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent
to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap,and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust His wife, Discretion, his daughter, Responsibility, his son, Reason

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights I Want It Now; Someone Else Is To Blame; I'm A Victim Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

If you still remember him, please post your"In Memory of" comment here.

If not. join the majority and do nothing.

"Success follows success"

So here's the idea. With the old fashioned saying that "success follows success",why are there so many followers than leaders. From The Viral Garden the advise Mack is very timely. In this stage of growth for my blogging gleaning from the wisdom of the more experienced bloggers is prudent.
"The great successful men of the world have used their imagination…they think ahead and create their mental picture in all its details, filling in here, adding a little there, altering this a bit and that a bit, but steadily building - steadily building."

Tips on Budget Decorating

Tips on Budget Decorating

Home decorating on a budget is the ultimate adventure in decorating. It requires a little bit of planning, creativity, and patience. If you are like me, sometimes you wish you could be a genie and wiggle your nose and **poof** it's done. However, that takes away from all the fun! Follow these tips and you'll have a home that looks like a page out of your favorite magazine!

*Visit Furniture Showrooms

Make notes of styles of furniture you like. Also, take note of colors and fabrics that create a "warm" feeling inside of you. By visiting showrooms you can get an idea of the new trends and styles.

*Browse Through Decorating Magazines

Magazines are a source of inspirational ideas. Create a scrapbook of magazine clippings and refer to your book when shopping for your home.

*Shop Second-Hand Stores

One person's trash is another person's treasure can never be so true. One place to look is the classifieds in your local newspaper. I have found great deals on furniture in thrift stores and auctions. Don't worry if an item is not in the best of shape. A coat of paint will work wonders for some furniture. Slipcovers can update an old couch or chair. Visit Stirred2generosity for cool stuff.

*Color! Color! Color!

To create a dramatic, inexpensive change to your home, paint the walls a new color or buy new curtains. Keep in mind the moods that colors can create.

*Create Your Own Art

For me, one of the best parts of decorating is creating my own original works of art to hang on the walls. It could be as simple as collecting leaves when they have turned colors and creating a picture collage. A nice frame makes any work of art look classy. Take a drawing, photography or painting class at your local community college. Gain inspiration by browsing through art books at your local library or bookstore. If you're into black and white photos, but do not want to pay the high price for this type of art, buy a book or calendar of your favorite photographer and frame the pictures.

*Shop Discount Stores

Thank God for discount stores! This place will save you a ton of money on accessories. You will find little treasures such as candle holders, candles, potpourri, and knick knacks for very little money. Who will ever know?

*Be Patient!

Take your time and shop during sales. Decorating should be fun. Remember, Rome was not built in a day!

Maria Palma is a writer, painter, jewelry designer, interior decorator, and real estate consultant based in San Diego, California. She received her degree in Psychology from California State University, Chico, but realized that she wanted to pursue her artistic passions. She has two websites: Salon de Maria (http://www.salondemaria.info), which showcases her art, and Home Solutions (http://www.homesolutionssandiego.com), a resource for real estate and home decorating in the San Diego area.

A side note here that I thought would benefit readers. Home Solutions San Diego Blog has tips about how you can save money by this simple home improvement. All it takes is the change of a light bulb.Change your light bulbs

Garage sales should be fun and hassle-free

Garage sales should be fun and hassle-free, with your goal to make some good money and off-load your unwanted items our garage sale checklist is your hassle-free, step-by-step organiser for achieving this.

2-3 weeks before the sale

-Start sorting through your household for unwanted items
have the mindset that almost anything will sell if it is a bargain

- Price your items
price items about 25-35% of what they cost new (clothes are exceptions - 5-15% here)

- Pick a date and time for your sale
weekends are the best; avoid public holidays or special events

- Write your ad
give the address and hours of the sale; mention items that are of particular interest

- Place your ad in local newspapers and using free garage sale adversting sites
put up flyers on local community boards; inform neighbours as they might want to have a joint sale

1 week before the sale

- Make sure items are cleaned and repaired
the better condition it is in, the higher price you will get

- Determine where signs will go
in and around your neighbourhood is best; one in front of your house is smart too

- Make your signs
use arrows, print the address, start and end times, use big letters

1-2 days before the sale

- Set up your sale area
use tables to lay items out, display clothing hung up; you want to create an area so people can browse and shop in comfort

- Get checkout area ready
have plenty of change; spare bags; calculator; newspaper (to wrap fragile items); paper & pens

Night before the sale

- Put up signs

- Make some refreshments and have a radio ready to play some soft background music

Morning of sale

- Make sure your house is locked up and fully secure
don't want to give buyers the opportunity to snoop around

- Open the gates/door to your sale
greet all customers with a freindly smile and "hello!"; be prepared to bargain with buyers

Right after sale

- Take signs down
not only is this courteous to the environment, but you might incur a fine or penalty if you don't

- Count your money and rejoice!

Who Are Baby Boomers?

It is now a fact that most of Americans are baby boomers and the new year finds more 'boomers' pushing the pen across the AARP application? While the family and I completed our New Years Day meal with it's fish and rice and side of greens. I now sit down to a cup of Java served in those neat heavy mugs made by Homer Laughlin.
